Ancient Messene
 Messene is a significant ancient city in terms of its size, form, and state of preservation, and still has much to offer. It possesses not only sanctuaries and public buildings, but also imposing fortifications, and houses and tombs. It enjoys, amongst other things, the advantage of never having been destroyed or covered by later settlements, and is located on an unspoiled inland site. Undoubtly, it is the first place one must visit in Messinia.

Voulkano Monastery
 The monastery of Voulkano or Vourkano occupies the first place among the legendary and historical names in Messinia, since it is situated in the holliest area in the pre-historic as well as the ancient country, in the region’s center. It is precisely the position of Ithomi, in the middle of the large plain, that, without being too high (802m), makes the hill stand out as if it was the highest mountain in Messinia.

The temple of Epikourios Apollon
 At the southwest of Andritsaina, at the north borders of Messinia, on a rough and fascinating mountainous landscape stands the imposing temple of Epicurean Apollo, one of the biggest ancient temples. The temple is situated 14 kilometres south of Andritsaina, at an altitude of 1.130 m., on mountain Kotilio.
