Among the many gifts of Kalamata, stands its beach, where one can reach in a few minutes on foot, even from the centre of the city. This long beach with high trees and coloured umbrellas is not only one of the most beautiful places to go for a walk, but also a great choice for swimming and lying under the sun. The presence of hundreds of people every day makes Kalamata beach look like a popular beach in an exotic island.

Traditional bakeries and fish taverns stand together with hotel beaches and non organized sections, exactly as the tourists stay together with local families or young companies with little kids fishing. The beach consists of sandstone and deepens smoothly, while the fact that it is in the centre of the Messinian Gulf guarantess that the water is quiet and warm. The beach of Kalamata is non-organized, wide, and has been awarded with the Blue Flag (award for clean beaches).
